Young Veterans of an Old War:
Post-conflict Colombia emerges as FARC disarm
After 52 years at war, Colombia's largest guerrilla army has given up their weapons for good. The ex-combatants, many of whom became insurgents as minors, are now wrestling with their transition into private life. Deep in the war weary jungles of Antioquia, a disarmament camp houses them. Originally meant to be temporary, the camp is being refashioned into a permanent settlement for the demobilized. As they prepare for civilian life in the world outside, bright flashes of hope and optimism, clash with past trauma and the everyday anxieties that permeate life at the camp..
The following series shows the mostly young, former rebels in a de facto guerrilla village as they stow away memories of their past, come to terms with the present, and brace for the future.
