Central American mothers search for their migrant children through the shelters and prisons of southern Mexico.
"A mother's love never runs out," is their refrain. It empowers women from Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala and Nicaragua to set out through the route their children and loved ones vanished from. The road to the American Dream the disappeared pined for goes through a Mexico that has increasingly grown hostile to migrants.
They come from the abandoned neighborhoods that surround the capital cities and remote villages in the countryside. The mothers that make up the 11th caravan are resolute in their search even if they must confront their child's death or, worse, extend their sorrow yet another year.
Their courage in travelling the same road their children went missing on is stark. The anguish the mothers shoulder for one
another is inspiring as it is heartbreaking. In their pursuit for closure they have transformed into ardent migrant rights activists confronting smugglers, government and society alike in their search.
This series tells the story of the mothers of those displaced thousands. The vast horrors that haunt the Central American migrant's route is matched only by the endless love a mother in search of her child can muster.
